This role combines hands-on development with architectural leadership, focusing on server-side applications and cloud services. As a key technical leader, you'll shape the architecture, performance, and reliability of our platform.
SUMMARY
We're looking for an experienced Principal Cloud Engineer to lead our technical strategy while working closely with our CTO and a small, agile team of five engineers.
What You'll Own
Define technical strategy and architectural vision for our cloud platforms and services
Make high-impact design decisions, balancing business requirements with technical excellence
Work closely and accompany dev teams during development lifecycles to ensure quality and efficiency
Write scalable, high-performance code in either Node.js or Go (preferably both)
Establish best practices in coding standards, testing, and maintainability
Design and optimize solutions across multiple cloud platforms
Lead architectural decisions around cloud infrastructure and container orchestration
Drive adoption of Infrastructure as Code for consistent resource management
What You’ll Need to Succeed
- 7+ years in software development with 3+ years in architectural roles
Strong DevOps experience and cloud-native application design
Advanced proficiency in either Node.js or Go (preferably both), having architected production-grade applications
Deep knowledge of PostgreSQL database design, optimization, and scaling
Demonstrated success designing resilient, scalable distributed systems
Extensive experience with cloud platforms and DevOps practices
Experience leading architectural decisions balancing technical debt with business objectives
Proven ability to evaluate emerging technologies and integrate them appropriately
Don’t forget to mention if you have:
Graph database experience (Neo4j, Amazon Neptune, etc.)
Contributions to open-source projects
Experience with microservices and event-driven architectures
Background in high-performance or high-availability systems
